HISTORY OF DR. THACHER’S
Dr. Thacher’s Cocktail Syrups revives a historic brand that flourished nearly a century ago right here in our hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Back during those difficult post-Civil War reconstruction days, all kinds of peddlers sought to cure a laundry list of common ailments through formulations. The carefully-guarded secret recipes promised pure and potent concoctions promised to do everything from easing the pain of childbirth to healing sick blood or mending a broken heart!
Today we harken fondly back to certain elements of the pre-prohibition cocktail days, but our sensibilities have modernized, along with our tastes. We crave real ingredients that create craft quality cocktails that will fit into our busy daily lives.
Dr. Thacher’s carefully curated line of Whiskey Cocktail Syrups was originally developed at the Tennessee Stillhouse, home of Chattanooga Whiskey. As people started to taste and enjoy the cocktails, Dr. Thacher’s popularity became quickly apparent and the simple assembly of the whiskey cocktails intrigued our guests. With these syrups almost anyone can make sophisticated, delicious whiskey cocktails that will have your friends and family asking for your secret recipe! Invigorate your cocktail game today—and trust our trained experts to serve up life-changing results.
Our small batch syrups have been handcrafted and tweaked to perfection by local craftsmen and, thanks to popular demand, are now available for sale! Made with real botanical ingredients and containing no artificial preservatives, our syrups let the whiskey shine through no matter what flavor you enjoy.

THE ORIGINAL DR. THACHER
Henry Savage Thacher was born in 1826. He was a chemist and apothecary and the inventor of a line of proprietary medicines sold under his own name from his laboratory in Chattanooga, TN. The line of products included “Liver and Blood Syrup” and proclaimed its power to cure (among other things) drowsiness, jaundice, liver complaints, impure blood, pimples, loss of appetite, sour stomach, sleeplessness, pains in back and sides, sick headaches…and the list goes on and on.
While these dubious claims are obviously suspicious today, we love how earnest and insistent their tone was. In addition we wanted to preserve the idea of pure trustworthy ingredients in a magic syrup with our surprisingly simple yet powerful whiskey cocktail syrups.
