If Dr. Thacher were to be turned into a cocktail by a magic spell it would be this one. The Sazerac has a characteristic directness, but it is also incredibly nuanced and subtle. It’s disarming and surprisingly straightforward and perfectly proportioned and complex. Typically you make this cocktail with a rye whiskey. The good doctor has tinkered with a variety of ingredients for this syrup to give you that delectable anise/fennel/wormwood which an absinthe rinse delivers to accent the herbal aromas of your whiskey of choice.
